The FX-2100 Universal Module Chassis (UMC) is the core component of the FX-2000 Flex Shield System. The FX-2100 UMC seamlessly integrates the ATmega-2560 MCU extensive I/O capability with seven FX-2000 series plugin module positions that can host galvanically isolated I/O, A/D, and serial-data communications solutions. Moreover, each module position has the unique ability to stack two modules, multiplying the total system module capacity to fourteen. This flexible plugin architecture, allows you to quickly configure the system to your specific requirements and in many cases, meet your performance objectives on a single platform with reserve module capacity for future expansion needs.

User Interface (UI) and Installation Flexibility

The FX-2100 UMC provides a convenient user interface (UI) for power on/off control and MCU reset, as well as, power supply, MCU reset, TX/RX data, and Ethernet LED status annunciators. A user adjustable high-efficiency pulse width modulator (PWM) controls LED illumination intensity for the FX-2100 UMC and the installed FX-2000 series I/O and data communications modules. The FX-2100 UMC also provides a type-B USB connector for ATmega-2560 software programming and an RJ45 connector for Ethernet service. 

Mounting the FX-2100 UMC is flexible, it can be installed on a suitable user platform with a minimum flat plate area of 9.5″ x 9.5 ” or installed on the optional:

About the FX-2100 UMC Microcontroller

The FX-2100 UMC utilizes the Microchip® ATmega-2560 8-bit AVR microcontroller IC with a 16 MHz clock speed, 256 kB of flash memory, 8 kB of SRAM, and 4 kB of EEPROM. It offers 54-digital input/output pins, with fourteen of the 54-pins capable of serving as pulse width modulator PWM outputs, sixteen 10-bit A/D inputs, and four UARTs (hardware serial ports).

USB programming and terminal communications is provided by an FTDI USB UART with integrated ESD and USB bus voltage to data line short circuit and IEC ESD protection.
