Power Supplies: DC, AC UPS, and Solar Electric

The FX-2000 Flex Shield system can be powered from DC to sunlight. DC power operation is a standard feature on the FX-2100 UMC. Alternatively, AC uninterruptible power supply (UPS) operation is available using the optional plugin FX-2150 AC UPS or solar power the system using the optional plug-in FX-2180 Solar Electric power supply.

DC Power Supply

The FX-2100 UMC is supplied with a galvalnically isolated wide input-voltage range DC-to-DC power converter and power-supply supervisory system. The rugged power converter has input-voltage reverse polarity protection, under voltage protection, transient over-voltage protection, and a 10 to 33 VDC input operating range. The 5 volt regulated output is fully protected from overload, short circuit, and transient voltage events.  

The supervisory system oversees the DC supply as well as the optional FX-2150 AC UPS and FX-180 Solar Power Supply. It sets under/over voltage operating limits and provides power valid/fault LED indicators for the 5, 24, and 12 volt battery supplies.

An integrated three-stage power supply sequencer limits the 5 volt start peak-current to ensure reliable power-up operation for any module configuration. The 5 volt supply powers the ATmega-2560 MCU and all FX-2000 series I/O modules.

AC Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS): FX-2150

Universal AC line power input and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) capability is available through the optional plug-in FX-2150 AC UPS. When equipped with an external 12 volt battery, true UPS performance (zero-second transfer time) is available allowing seamless MCU and I/O operation during AC line brownout and blackout conditions. 

During normal AC line conditions, the FX-2150’s three-stage automatic battery charger maintains the battery at the optimum charge level and helps ensure long battery life through temperature governed battery charging.

Solar Electric Power Supply: FX-2180

Solar electric power operation is available through the optional plug-in FX-2180 Solar Power Supply. Equipped with a high-efficiency maximum power point tracking (MPPT) charge controller, the system can harvest up to 65-watts of power from a solar panel while charging the system battery at up to 5 Ah. The modular plug-in charge-controller battery chemistry options include sealed lead acid and lithium technologies.
